Not just for dogs

wimbledon racquet club

Wimbledon Racquets and Fitness Club is a long established not for profit Community Amateur Sports Club. It is one of the most successful badminton and squash venues in the country, has thriving junior sections in both squash and badminton and has nurtured many top class players, including several current GB Olympic badminton prospects.

Built on its current site in 1936, the doors were officially opened on Tuesday 26th January 1937 by Lord Ebbisham. Over the years the club has grown in size and popularity and now offers many facilities including a gymnasium, dance studio, fitness centre, sauna, members bar and lounge, and a function suite.
Wimbledon racquets and fitness club offer a friendly and inviting atmosphere with excellent facilities, and have been recognised as a Performance Centre by Badminton England.

Interestingly they are not a dog friendly venue. In fact we have done a lot of commercial venues over the years and Wimbledon is the first project we have undertaken that do not allow dogs on site.

In 2022 we were approached by Wimbledon Racquets and Fitness Club (WRFC) about installing our commercial flooring in the bar area and members lounge; we were put forward by one of their board members as he had our flooring in his house. Richard saw how the flooring performed, was impressed with the hard wearing durable properties and 10 year commercial warranty and though it would be ideal for the project.

The project itself was nearly 100sqm, the existing floor was engineered wood, however below the engineered wood was blown latex, marmoleum, another coat of latex, plywood and yet another layer of latex which had also blown. It took two days and a large skip to get to the point where we could start work on the subfloor preparation. Step one was applying a primer and a coat of moisture tolerant smoothing compound, step two was applying a full damp proof membrane, step three and four was building up the levels using a smoothing compound. Like in every project subfloor works are imperative; in this case the subfloor works were the main bulk of the cost and work. Getting the subfloor ready for the commercial floor covering took 5 days, around 150 bags of smoothing compound and a lot of hard work!

Once we started laying the commercial Floors for Paws we really saw the room transform, all the hard work of the last week started to paid off. The Greenwood commercial flooring design has loads of detail in the printing and looks very realistic in situ, in fact you would have to get down in your hands and knees to tell it’s not actually a wooden floor; it is also one of our floor coverings that is really good at hiding the dirt! A great choice for the club all round.

Veterinary Testimonial – Caerphilly Veterinary clinic

Vet approved

As a busy Veterinary Clinic, when it came time to replace our flooring, we had a few criteria that had to be met. We needed to make sure our four legged visitors would be safe on an Anti-slip floor, but we also wanted the floor to look amazing and less clinical that standard Veterinary flooring. It also needed to be durable! Dogs do have accidents!

We found Floors For Paws and knew they would be the team to work with. From the initial enquiry, to receiving samples, deciding which floor for each area, arranging a site visit and work starting, their communication was excellent!

Everything went smoothly, the floors look fantastic and we’ve had really great comments from our clients.

Our reception doesn’t look clinical any more, instead it’s warm and welcoming while being a safe place for our fluffy visitors. It’s completely transformed the space and we love it! So much so, that we’re planning to have more Floors for Paws next year because our new reception has put our other reception to shame!

Thanks so much from all of the team and pets at Caerphilly Veterinary Clinic.

The best flooring for dogs (and their owners) from Floors for Paws
Our Pawsafe Commercial range has been developed in conjunction with Canine Arthritis Management (CAM) and when weighing up the best and worst flooring for dogs, it’s easy to see why so many people love this floor. For humans, the range is durable and hardwearing and waterproof when professionally installed. This vinyl flooring is easy to maintain, scratch resistant and comes on a roll in a choice of colours and finishes to create individual looks in any style of interior.

For dogs, this flooring is second to none. It has the highest slip rating of any vinyl flooring currently on the market with a textured upper surface to aid traction. What’s more, its high density, fleece comfort backing gives better cushioning for older, painful joints.

CAM endorsed flooring range

CAM’s mission is to improve and extend lives for dogs suffering from arthritis, and we’ve developed a range of services to help us achieve this.

Hannah Capon – Founder of Canine Arthritis Management

“For many years I have been promoting the benefits of safe flooring in the home for dogs. Many homes now have wood, laminate or tile flooring, particularly in areas such as kitchens, where dogs spend much of their time. Dogs have to work hard to prevent themselves from slipping on these surfaces. This becomes more difficult as their muscles become weaker with age and their joints are stiff and painful with arthritis. Slips stretch inflamed joints and tight muscles out of their normal range, and this causes small injuries to the muscles, ligaments and tendons. Injuries cause scars and scars cause stiffness and pain. Preventing this repetitive trauma and pain using simple measures is likely to make life easier both in the short and long term for the arthritic dog.

Floors For Paws sent me a roll of their new PawSafe anti-slip flooring for me and Luna to trial and I was delighted with the results. Luna ran across it happily without slips and I feel that this flooring can prevent unnecessary injury and indeed Vets bills for dog owners.

The PawSafe flooring is the first ever CAM approved product and we will be recommending it to our community.”

Rigsby pet friendly holiday cottages – The Stables

Rigsby holiday cottages are ideally located for escapism in the picturesque parish of Rigsby, which is in the Lincolnshire Wolds – a designated area of outstanding natural beauty (ANOB). Rigsby is just 2 miles from Alford – renowned for its arts & crafts and striking five-sailed windmill. The holiday cottages are perfect for walkers and cyclists, with multiple public footpaths and cycle routes on the doorstep.

Within easy reach of the award winning, golden-sanded coastal resorts of Mablethorpe and Sutton on Sea. Louth, the capital of the Lincolnshire Wolds, is 10 miles away and the historic city of Lincoln is under an hour away.

Already With Two beautifully renovated holiday cottages the family wanted to offer another pet friendly option for their guests by renovating The Stables. So who better to turn to than Floors For Paws – The World’s best flooring for dogs and dog owners!

As farming has changed, Rigsby Farming Company, has ended up with a number of redundant buildings. We opened our first holiday cottage in 2008 and adding a second holiday cottage in 2014. The first holiday has always been the more popular one and we think this is because it is pet friendly and Rigsby in the Lincolnshire Wolds is surrounded by lots of great walks from the cottage door steps. So when we decided to convert an unused barn to make our third holiday cottage, we knew we wanted it to be very pet friendly. Great looks, longevity, paw friendly and easy clean helped us quickly settle on Floors For Paws. We selected Greenwood and it really hits the mark to give the holiday cottage a barn conversion look that also matches the contemporary interior finish we wanted to attract guests and of course their pets. Paul Read – Owner @ Rigsby Holiday cottages.

The Greenwood design worked beautifully with the original natural wood in the building.

Floors For Paws is 100% waterproof and due to its double wear layer protection it really is the best flooring for dogs and dog owners.

Floors For Paws worked closely with The Rigsby Farming company to provide the perfect fit for their vision, all the way through the process from discussing colour, to organising installation and aftercare. Call us today on 01937 830948 to help with your project.
